being intrinsically a mugwump aka luddite, the time-suck of blogging has deterred this step over the digital precipice . . . but, the enticement of hearing back from LiTFUSIANs in a truly interactive environment has - tentatively - won my heart, if not my mind. PLUS this might just be the ticket to tickle other like-minded and unlike-minded spirits hither to TIETON which is in an unknown corner of central WA-WA, and if the center how could it be a corner? well that's part of the fun, and so I invite you to chime in with your views of the matter: what has LiTFUSE meant to you? what do you think of LiTFUSE 2010 so far? what shall we do? who with and will you please be there? & most of all, the work, the work, the work. post a poem, and fragment, an insight, a slight of hand. be not merely the FUSE, but the MATCH. yes, at last, it's ok to play with matches. please visit our website - do I need to post the link here? www.litfuse.us

ReplyDeleteI’m Still Thinking
“All this buttoning and unbuttoning. . .”
18th Century Suicide Note
The bumpy clouds open their arms,
molecules, vessels to sift sunlight.
The birds begin another day.
I’m still thinking of the fruit fly
mistakenly sucked into the vacuum
cleaner last night. Its dusty death.
This morning, I open my heart
to my child self, waiting
these long years to grow.
My body speaks to me
differently now—a bend,
a twist, this weight, all felt.
Inside each of us: cloud,
fly, bird, the joy
of living sings,
and every button is
waiting to be buttoned,
unbuttoned.

The Mighty Tieton project is a very interesting one and Lit Fuse may be the best literary festival in the state. That they have the nerve to book poets like George Bowering and Charles Potts (the same year in fact) gives you a sense of their vision. This range is a facet other literary festivals in the state would be wise to notice and mimic. Adelante, Lit Fuse!
ReplyDeleteA LitFuse blog is a great idea, though I am not one who does much blogging. Maybe I just don't understand how they work. Love LitFuse!
